Statistically a third of people who suffer a die within 10 days of the event, a third are likely to make a full recovery and a third will be left disabled.

So it seems logical to rather think preventative as you only have a 33.3% of completely recovering from a stroke.

The irony of the situation is that it is very easy to arm your body sufficiently against stroke and other dreaded diseases through proper nutrition but so few people will make the necessary effort to find out about it and to actually follow through on it.

Studies show that by naturally increasing your potassium levels with fruits and vegetables (not supplementation) you are almost twice as likely to recover from a stroke than a person with low potassium levels.

High potassium fruits include apricots, bananas, cantaloupe, and citrus fruits. Veggies are potatoes, cauliflower, lima beans and asparagus. Other foods are grain products, red meat, poultry and seafood.

Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health, found that you can prevent the risk of stroke by increasing dietary levels of alpha-carotene, beta-carotene and lycopene.

You can naturally increase alpha-carotene levels by eating more carrots, winter squash, tomatoes, green beans and cilantro. Beta-carotene levels can be increased by eating more carrots, strawberries, cantaloupe, broccoli, squash and sweet potatoes. Lycopene can be found in tomatoes, pink grapefruit and watermelon.

There have it naturally and improve your chances for a full recovery by more that 50% should you suffer one.

The question remains, what are you going to do about it?

Quick Tip - Lower Your Heart Attack and Stroke Risk Drink Tea!

Published by Frederick Konig under heart disease

Green and black tea seems to be able to lower your heart attack and stroke risk by 41%.

A study of 8552 tea drinking people found a significant reduction in deaths from cardiovascular disease, especially amongst men.

In another study done at Harvard, scientists surveyed 1900 patients hospitalized with heart attack and found a 28% lower death rate amongst moderate tea drinkers and a 44% lower death rate amongst heavy tea drinkers.

FYI green tea is rich in antioxidants which is a major “good guy” when it comes to heart disease, so remember your green tea and your cranberry juice/supplements.

Naturally Decrease Your Heart Disease Risk By 40% With Cranberries!

Try this tasty way to .

In a study done by Dr. Joe Vinson from the University of Scranton in the USA it was found that the consumption of cranberry juice was able to raise HDL (good cholesterol ) levels by 10%. Which results in a decrease of up to 40% in heart disease risk.

The study also found an increase in levels in the blood which is strongly associated with lower heart disease risk. Levels of up to 120% were reported.

BUT, that’s right here comes the but….

Cranberry Concentrate by Carlson Labs

Avoid cranberry juices that are laced with sugar, try a 100% natural juice else rather go for a supplement. There are so many good alternative available that it really is not necessary to succumb to the sugar trap. If you’re not careful the benefits could be canceled out by the “taste nazi’s” :-).

The way research results have been stacking up we can comfortably say that most dreaded disease risks can be reduced by avoiding sugar and excessive carbs in your diet.

Your health, it is in your hands!

Survey uncovers lack of knowledge about prostate cancer

Only a third of men know what their prostate does and many would look for excuses not to visit a doctor if they thought there might be something wrong with it, a new study has found.

The risk of prostate cancer increases with age and is also more common in men who have a father or brother with the disease. It is also three times more common among men of African Caribbean descent.

The survey also found that many men would ignore frequent night-time urination, which is a common symptom of poor prostate health.
