Baby boomers realize the time to be concerned about Alzheimer’s, dementia and your longevity is most definitely while you are still healthy, ‘prevention is better than cure’ - old saying but more true than ever.

It has been know for over 70 years that a sever deficiency in Niacin (a form of vitamin B), can lead to in a relatively short period of time. However it has now also come to light that even a slight efficiency of niacin, over time can have the same devastating effect.

Researchers at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta studied the effects of even small niacin deficiencies in 3 718 patients over a 9 year period and found that lower niacin intake did in deed contribute in the development of Alzheimer’s.

They also found that a higher intake of niacin could prevent dementia plus they also found a slower annual rate of age related, non-Alzheimer’s cognitive decline.

So niacin can prevent and reverse certain types of dementia and keep your brain functioning at optimum levels longer. In my books a definite reason to rush out and make sure I get enough niacin everyday.

Niacin can be found in abundance in whole, unprocessed and unrefined foods. Some of the best sources are brewer’s yeast, un-roasted nuts and seeds and whole grains.

I would also suggest that you take a niacin containing multi vitamin.

The more I get exposed to diseases and cures the more it becomes apparent that our best cure is and remains a healthy lifestyle which include a proper diet, regular exercise, stress management and spiritual fulfillment (belonging and contributing somewhere).

So baby boomers arm yourself in the fight against Alzheimer’s and dementia naturally and you’ll live a long, happy, healthy, active, fulfilling live.

Your health

That’s very true. We can get lots of vit B and Niacin from unprocessed food and raw food. Brown rice and yeast is one of the most common source of it to most people.
