Certain personality types have common backgrounds and traits. By taking the test below, you can identify some of your stress triggers, that cause anxiety and chronic illness.

The test was developed by the Midwest center for Stress and Anxiety.

Childhood background -

Give yourself 1 point for the ones that apply to you:
*** Unstable upbringing e.g. divorce
*** Lack of approval or praise
*** Feeling that you must prove yourself as a child
*** Strict religious up bringing / guilt and fear
*** Siblings parenting other siblings
*** Nervous disorders in family
*** Loss or separation of family member
*** Strict parents with high expectations
*** Family history of alcoholism
*** Low-self esteem
*** Feelings not easily shown or displayed

Personality traits

Give yourself 1 point for the ones with which you can identify:
*** Tendency to overreact
*** Perfectionist
*** Inner nervousness
*** Emotionally sensitive
*** Guilt ridden
*** Extremely analytical
*** Overly concerned about others opinion of you
*** Obsessive thinker
*** Worry about health problems
*** High expectations
*** Inability to make decisions

Give yourself a score out of 22 - this is one test where a high score is not what you’re after.

Relate your score to the four levels of stress indicated by your reactions to life. Which of these symptoms best fit your daily state of mind.

Stress Levels

Level I
*** Losing interest in enjoyable activities
*** Sagging of the corners of your eyes
*** Creasing of the forehead
*** Becoming short tempered
*** Bored, nervous

Level II

*** Level I, plus
*** Tiredness
*** Anger
*** Insomnia
*** Paranoia
*** Sadness

Level III

*** Chronic head and neck aches
*** High blood pressure
*** Upset stomach
*** Looking older

Level IV
*** Level I, II and III
*** Skin disorders
*** Kidney malfunction
*** Frequent infections
*** Asthma
*** Heart disease
*** Mental or emotional breakdown

You’ll notice how a little stress grows like tumor and turns into a debilitating disease over time unless managed. We’ll be dealing with stress management in detail on this site and update the best tools and methods as they become available.
