4 Herbs That Will Help Control Your Cholesterol…

Published by Frederick Konig under cholesterol

can easily be incorporated into your daily diet and help you control your naturally.

These herbs are:

cancerroot2_small.jpgalfalfa.jpgaloe.jpgcardinal_small.jpg

*** Although some herbalists consider Alfalfa so mild that it is a food rather than a medicine, the herb has to its credit some wonderful cures.

Frank Bower (who is known as the Father of Alfalfa) discovered that the plant contained important enzymes, which assist in good digestion.

Tests over a period of years revealed that in addition to enzymes, the plant contains important chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals, all of which stimulate the appetite.

The enzymes are sufficiently present to help in the digestion of all four classes of foods–proteins, fats, starches and sugars.

One of the important vitamins present in the food is Vitamin U, which is also present in raw cabbage and which has been used to treat peptic ulcers.

This discovery of Vitamin U confirms the Chinese herbalists’ use of the herb to cure ulcers.

Alfalfa, along with other foods, is known to help remove cholesterol from the system. Alfalfa has a significant amount of protein — 18.9%, as compared with 16.5% in beef, 3.3% in milk and 13.1% in eggs.

Eating the sprouts can add a significant amount of important protein in vegetarians who take no animal proteins at all, and whose diet may include so many grains and beans that concentrated proteins are difficult to obtain.

*** Black Cohosh is the combination of standardized extract and dried powder of the Black Cohosh root. Black Cohosh is a popular Native American and folk remedy for female ailments and menstrual cramps.

The triterpene glycosides in the extract have been well researched in Germany for a broad range of menopausal symptoms. Also know to reduce bad cholesterol levels.

*** Hawthorn is the primary herb used by herbalists in America and Europe to support a healthy heart.

The leaves, berries and flowers are rich in flavonoids and proanthocyanidins renowned for their ability to support the normal activity and integrity of the heart.

Planetary Herbals Full Spectrum™ Hawthorn Extract combines a concentrated extract of hawthorn leaves and flowers with the whole berries, to deliver a full spectrum of valuable hawthorn constituents.

Lifestyle Recommendations: To support a healthy heart, avoid excess consuption of saturated fats and salted foods, eat a high fiber diet, maintain normal cholesterol levels, exercise regularly and avoid excessive stress.

Eat plenty of garlic and onions and supplement with magnesium and antioxidant nutrients, such as CoQ10 and vitamin E. other Planetary Herbals products to support the heart include: Hawthorn Heart™, CholestGar™, GarliChol™, and Guggul Cholesterol Compound™.

*** Turmeric (Curcuma longa) has a long history as a health-promoting botanical worldwide. Modern research has identified a group of compounds known as curcuminoids as predominantly responsible for its beneficial effects.

Turmeric has antioxidant properties, stimulates the production of bile, and supports cholesterol levels already in the normal range.

Planetary Formulas Full Spectrum Turmeric Extract combines a concentrated turmeric extract, standardized to 95% curcuminoids, with whole turmeric rhizome.

Combining these active constituents with the whole herb ensures that all the important compounds of the botanical are present.

The Relationship Between Obesity Heart Disease and Diabetes.

Published by Frederick Konig under diabetes, heart disease

The Relationship Between Obesity Heart Disease and Diabetes A Comprehensive Study.

Thought I’d be mean today seeing that it is the 13th and all.

By Steven M. Haffner - Department of Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology, University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Texas.

The prevalence of obesity and diabetes has reached pandemic proportions. Obesity, particularly in association with high waist circumference and high BMI, is an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease (CHD) and diabetes. Several large studies have shown that marginal (5 lb) to moderate (11 to 22 lb) weight gain in adulthood (age 20 to 50 years) increases the risk of chronic disease and negatively affects CHD risk status. The metabolic syndrome, a clustering of cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors that includes abdominal obesity, is increasing among adults and children and is strongly associated with the development of diabetes and CHD. Recent evidence suggests that elevated liver enzymes, an indicator of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, may comprise an additional component of the metabolic syndrome and may serve as a surrogate marker for type 2 diabetes, particularly if used in conjunction with C-reactive protein.

Prevent diabetes and heart disease and you can add 10 years to your lifespan, simple.

How do you do this, read this blog it is full of relevant info, else improve your diet, exercise, have regular sex and practice stress relief.

Did You Know A Lack Of This Vitamin Can Make You Age Faster.

Published by Frederick Konig under anti aging

Let’s face it… No one wants to get wrinkles.

And there’s certainly no shortage of creams, serums and lotions meant to help fight them.

The answer to those lines on your forehead and in the corners of your eyes may be a whole lot simpler (and cheaper) than those products.

A recent study in the Netherlands found that vitamin K plays a key role in protecting the skin against the effects of a disease called pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE).

Just one of the symptoms for this illness is severe wrinkling of the skin.

The researchers discovered vitamin K activates one of the enzymes responsible for protecting the skin’s elastic fibers.

Based on previous research, they also knew that people suffering from PXE are unable to metabolize vitamin K.

So, putting two and two together, they concluded that this nutrient must be involved in the elasticity of skin.

While this particular study didn’t investigate it directly, the researchers speculate vitamin K could play the same protective role in healthy subjects as well.

Of course, they also didn’t study vitamin K in terms of anti-wrinkling effects.

But preventing wrinkles from occurring in the first place is an even better approach than fighting them back.

And since vitamin K is so good for you in so many other ways, it certainly won’t hurt you to try it.
