Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are substances found naturally in the body - What has it got to do with osteoarthritis?

Glucosamine is a form of amino sugar that is believed to play a role in cartilage formation and repair.

Chondroitin sulfate is part of a large protein molecule (proteoglycan) that gives cartilage elasticity.

Both glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are sold as dietary or nutritional supplements.

They are extracted from animal tissue: glucosamine from crab, lobster or shrimp shells; and chondroitin sulfate from animal cartilage, such as tracheas or shark cartilage.

What do they do?

Past studies show that some people with mild to moderate osteoarthritis (OA) taking either glucosamine or chondroitin sulfate reported pain relief at a level similar to that of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin and ibuprofen.

Some research indicates that the supplements might also slow cartilage damage in people with OA.

Definitive results about the effects of these supplements are expected from an in-depth clinical study currently being conducted by the National Institutes of Health.

Up To 90% Of Our Normal Behavior Is Based On Habits.

Published by Frederick Konig under health

The power of habits are equally true regardless of success at work or our daily diet.

When you are not one of them it is so easy to look at the “beautiful people” and consider them lucky. Apparently they have success in their lives because of everything but good habits.

Habits, good or bad take time to develop but once they have formed it takes huge effort and discipline to change them, the good news is people are doing it every day.

Gary Player - the famous golfer used to say the harder I practice the luckier I get.

Good health is as much a choice shaped into healthy habits as are the bad one’s of eating chips instead of a handful of nuts when you feel snacky.

Anybody who’s been on a diet can tell you about the sweat and tears it took, you might even relate to the agony, and what’s worse people then stupidly throw all caution to the wind when the diet ends - what a terrible waste of time and energy!

FACT - the bulk of our modern disease are self inflicted because of bad diet, lack of exercise, too much stress and no hope.

SOLUTION - very simple eat healthily, get regular exercise, meditate - practice stress relief, get enough sleep and have regular sex and finally use supplements to ensure you get enough of the correct nutrition.

I’m not going to lie to you, breaking bad habits build over a lifetime is going to take more than a couple of weeks to break but the reward is worth the effort, change your bad habits and you’ll never have to go on a diet again!

The medical profession is constantly discovering new data that will hopefully, one day lead to a cure for Alzheimer’s.

Until then arming yourself with the knowledge to recognize the symptoms and on how to live preventatively remains our best defense against Alzheimer’s and most other debilitating diseases..

And let’s face it your health is your responsibility. Bad lifestyle choices are your fault, nobody elses.

the risk of Alzheimer’s goes up fast with age because of late onset .

More than 50% of people over 95 will have . Because of longevity the cases of Alzheimer’s in the general population are increasing at an alarming rate.

The number of deaths from Alzheimer’s has increased 20 fold in the last 20 years.

Alzheimer’s Age Demographics:
** 60 t0 65 years ** 0.4% to 1%
** 85 to 90 years ** 20% t0 40%
** 95 years ** 55%

The nerve cell loss that occurs with Alzheimer’s can start around the age of 40 with symptoms only showing when the damage has been done at age 60 or 70.

Baby boomers this means that your best defense against Alzheimer’s is prevention!

Prevention starts with your lifestyle. Eat healthy fresh foods, supplement with the vitamins and minerals that you might not be getting enough of, start a regular fitness program, engage your brain - use it regularly, have fun and practice stress relief, etc.

Regular sex is a great medicinal tool - thought I put that in just for fun - but it is true!
